Laparoscopic Ureterolithotomy

Laparoscopic ureterolithotomy is an alternative to open surgery for removing large stones not amenable to endoscopic treatment. Here in place of a large incision we are removing the ureteric stone through three small openings. It is described to be more successful for middle and upper ureteric stone than for lower ureteric stone. Upper and mid ureteric stones are safely approached retroperitoneally but lower ureteric stones are better approached transperitoneally. A double J stent is placed which needs to be removed cystoscopically in a month after surgery.
